The Ruins of Senn-Vyvehrr

Description

A team of explorers from Aome set down upon the moon of Senn-Vyvehrr to search through the ancient ruins there. These huge organic structures, which date back to the early days of the Atini Conflict, served as factories within which hundreds of fighting machines were constructed under the orders of 'Rau-Dhossi', the first robot General to lead against the Mesranic Oppression.

Made with Vue and Photoshop.

This was going to be used for an older Lum pack, but never got past the basic render stage. So I decided to work on it for the 'Beyond the Frontier: Lost Lands' contest.

Hope you like it. :)

Ruins. A gateway into the past of a civilization that is no more. Be they the results of war and destruction or the slow corruption of a culture's lost ways, they have always been a gateway into a world that once thrived, but now stands fragmented and quite literally, a shell of its former self. The Ruins of Senn-Vyvehrr area a primary example of how such a gateway could be used to give us such insight on a previous culture, only to show us the remnants of something that was once a thriving and wondrous metropolis of this desert land.

The shape and designs of the structure give a look of both familiarity as well as originality. The structures are reminiscent of so many different sources (Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey, Star Wars, etc.) that I can't help but like them. The desert clouds looming over the decrepit remnants of this barren land really add to the Ruin atmosphere and feel as though even the skies themselves have forgotten about this land. However as nice as it looks, there is a slight issue with it. Some of the landforms on the lower levels of the picture seem a bit too grainy. Perhaps its sand or dust kicking up, it just looks as though the picture could use a bit of sanding down, pun not intended. Also to make the place feel more barren, it would have been nice to see a sand storm or two licking the buildings to make it appear even more dilapidated and abandoned; it would have really added to the atmosphere a lot more.

Despite its flaws, its still quite a very interesting piece to view and fav. Give it a look, you won't be disappointed. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt=":D" title=":D (Big Grin)"/>
