Pilgrimage to Clerydh

Description

As the sun begins to set on the moon of Clerydh, a hundred pilgrims make their way to the ancient Temple of Laich-Naar to celebrate the Dawn of Flakk - a festival which lasts for seven days and nights - to commemorate the 'Cleansing of Wefth', a ritual which takes place once every ten years.

The pilgrims, hailing from nearby Fov, have travelled for six days in their Lanenthic class 2 cruiser 'Birlhini Heart' to be here in time for the festival, set within the mysterious rocky outcrop inauspiciously referred to as 'The Dragon's Teeth'

What is it about derelict and desolate surroundings that capture the eye of our imaginations. Perhaps its the mystery of what civilization once existed there before an unknown cataclysm occurred? Or perhaps it holds a hidden secret that could change the very world and its inhabitants? Whatever the case or meaning behind them, on thing is for sure: Pilgrimage to Clerydh by =GrungeTV, is a fine example of how these places can really captivate ones imagination and create countless tales from them.

On a detail standpoint, the piece looks good. The rocks really show off dirt and nature-eroded rocks very well and they show off a near photo-realistic appearance. The dust storms forming at the base of the hill add a bit more personality and gives the viewer more insight on the sort of environment that this location has. The small machine-like spire in the foreground, stands in contrast to the wasteland environment and gives adds even more mystery to this overall piece.

The lighting gives off the exact same feeling that you feel from the desert-like area. The light almost feels dry and energy draining. Giving whoever wanders this place an uncontentious feeling of hopelessness that they will never escape from. A small nitpick would be that some isolated parts of the mountain appear a little pixelated, but that barely detracts from the overall design

All in all its a good piece. Good work Grunge. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="26" height="18" alt=":salute:" title="I salute you!"/>
